Boys' Swimming and Diving: Rosemount wins first meet of 2019

The Rosemount Irish boys' swimming and diving team took down the Lakeville North Panthers in their first meet since the holiday break last Friday, Jan. 4. The Irish edged out the Panthers 95-90 at Rosemount Middle School after winning half of the night's events, with the meet coming down to points in the lower places.

Winning their events were junior Jonny Wise in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.80 seconds, senior Brady Carrigan in the one-meter dive with 203.45 points and senior Cody Spaeth in the 100 freestyle in 50.77. Junior Keegan Henning won the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:00.30, junior Brogan O'Donnel took first in the 100 breaststroke in 1:05.57 and the 400 freestyle relay team of Spaeth, Wise, Henning and senior Raphael Popa finished first (3:24.88).

Runners-up were the 200 medley relay team of senior Owen Benson, junior Devin Anderson, O'Donnel and Popa with a time of 1:45.82, less than half a second behind the Panthers' winning relay; Spaeth in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:52.63, Henning in the 200 individual medley in 2:07.86 and junior Luke Rexing in the one-meter dive with a score of 138.45. Anderson finished second in the 100 butterfly with a time of 56.43, freshman Evan Kindseth in the 500 freestyle in 5:02.33 and the 200 freestyle relay team of Anderson, Wise, Popa and Spaeth (1:34.18).

In third-place were O'Donnel in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:09.91, senior Tanis Marziteli in the one-meter dive with a score of 131.65 and the 200 freestyle relay team of junior Cole Forgey, sophomore Josh Cobian, senior Nate Boerboom and Henning in 1:39.71. Benson was third in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:01.26 and Boerboom placed third in the 100 breaststroke in 1:09.31.

Rosemount hosts Prior Lake on Friday, Jan. 11, and then Lakeville South on Tuesday, Jan. 15.
