Albert "Al" Rother
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held for Albert "Al" Rother from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 27, at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Plainview Chapel in Plainview. A Prayer Service at 2:00 p.m. will start the celebration, with Military Rites by the Plainview American Legion Post #179 at 2:30 p.m. Burial will be at a later date in the St. Aloysius Catholic Cemetery at Elba.
Albert Christoff Rother, 89, of St. Charles and formerly of Rochester, passed away early Thursday morning, February 22, 2018 at the Whitewater Care Center in St. Charles. He was born May 27, 1928 in Vermillion, MN to Vincent and Catherine (Wagner) Rother. He attended rural Dakota County Schools. He served his country in the US Army from 1950 to 1952 during the Korean War, he received both the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He married Mary Ulvi and was later divorced. On June 19, 1975 he married Genevieve Patchin.
Albert was an over the road truck driver for Cliff Viessman trucking retiring in the late 1990's. He also drove for Elgin Milk Company earlier, and was also an owner/operator trucker for many years. Albert enjoyed woodworking, going hunting and fishing and picking dandelions in his red plaid shirt. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and was very proud them.
Albert is survived by his children, Lysa (Craig) Tradup of Elgin, Thomas Tlougan of Oronoco, Eileen (Bryan) Campbell of Bemidji, and Lori Korbel of Winthrop; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, LeRoy Rother of Hastings; a sister, Bernice "Minni" (Dean) Falls of Gordon, WI; a brother-in-law, Merle McClintlock of Florida; and a sister-in-law, Mary Rother of Prescott, WI . He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, son, 2 step-sons, 3 brothers, and 2 sisters.
