ROSEMOUNT — Shannon Park Elementary first-graders celebrated the Chinese New Year with colorful dragons in a lively parade.

Hundreds of first-graders entertained guests Friday, Feb. 15, in this annual, anticipated parade that has been a tradition for more than 20 years. 2019 marks the year of the pig.

First-graders study Chinese culture and work to create bright-colored dragons after hours of creativity and folded strips of colored construction paper.

For years, students who have Chinese descent are welcome to have family come into the classrooms and share their culture and artifacts and share the language with classes.
