RHS marching band earns top award in Marshall

The Rosemount High School marching band earned the 2018 Sweepstakes Award on Saturday, Sept. 22, at the 23rd annual Pursuit of Excellence Marching Band Competition in Marshall, Minn.

Rosemount finished as the top scoring band in the competition. Rosemount's show, "Loved and Lost," also earned the following Class Caption Awards: Brass, Woodwinds, Battery Percussion, Concert Percussion, Color Guard, Commanders, Outstanding Music and Outstanding Visual Performance.

There were 20 high school marching bands representing Minnesota, South Dakota and Iowa that participated in the event, which was held at the Southwest Minnesota State University. Each band performed in one of four classes based on the size of its winds and percussion sections.

Coming up, the Marching Irish will participate in Irondale's Music of the Knight Marching Band Competition in New Brighton on Saturday, Sept. 29, the Youth in Music Minnesota State Marching Band Championships at US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis on Oct. 13, and the Bands of America Super Regional in Indianapolis, Oct. 19-20.
