Wilson will sing with RHS choirs
ROSEMOUNT—A rising soprano star and former local student will perform with Rosemount High School choirs Monday, March 5.
Mary Wilson Is acknowledged as one of today's most exciting artists, with OperaNews heralding her first solo recording, "Mary Wilson Sings Handel," as one of the "best of the year." Cultivating a wide-ranging career singing chamber music, oratorio and operatic repertoire, her "bright soprano seems to know no terrors, wrapping itself seductively around every phrase," according to the Dallas Morning News.
"She proves why many in the opera world are heralding her as an emerging star. She is simply amazing, with a voice that induces goose bumps and a stage presence that is mesmerizing," the Arizona Daily Star said.
She will sing with local choirs in concerts at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in the high school. A "welcome back to RHS" reception will follow the second performance.
In consistent high demand on the concert stage, she has appeared with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Philadelphia Orchestra, Cleveland Orchestra, St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, Singapore Symphony, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, Los Angeles Master Chorale, Pacific Symphony, VocalEssence and more.
Also an accomplished pianist, Wilson holds vocal performance degrees from St. Olaf College in Northfield and Washington University in St. Louis. She is an assistant professor of voice at the University of Memphis, and resides in Bartlett, Tenn., with her husband,son, and two dogs.
