About 100 people took the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge Wednesday night in an event organized by Nickie Carrigan Fitness: The Warehouse.

The challenge, which has spread rapidly online in recent weeks, asks participants to either donate to the ALS Association, get a bucket of ice-cold water dumped over their head, or both. According to the ALS Association, the challenge had accounted for more than 41 million in donations as of Thursday.

Each of the participants in the Rosemount event passed the challenge on to people of their choosing -- from individuals and families to entire fire departments -- but the event was also intended as a challenge to other cities to put together their own challenges and try to top Rosemount's participation.

For a full story about the event see next week's Independent Town Pages.
