State Sen. Dan Schoen is being pressured to resign from the Minnesota Legislature following a published report alleging he sexually harassed multiple women in politics. The women, including a fellow DFL lawmaker, shared detailed allegations against Schoen in a MinnPost story published Wednesday night. One former DFL candidate claimed Schoen made sexual comments about her and later grabbed her buttocks. A legislator said Schoen pursued meetings with her, including at his home. Another lawmaker said she'd been warned by lobbyists about Schoen.
As a resident, parent of two District 196 graduates, and active community member in Eagan, I'm proud to support School Board Member Gary Huusko for re-election this November. Gary's been a resident of Eagan for 22 years and has capably served on the School Board for the last six years. Gary is vice-chair of the School Board and serves on the board's Audit and Finance, Legislative, and Policy Review Committees.
Shannon Park Elementary Principal Erik Davis fulfilled a promise to sleep overnight on the school roof after students raised over $25,000 for the school through a "Reading Rocks" program that promotes literacy. Davis headed to the roof as students left school Wednesday, Oct. 4, interacted with families and visitors throughout the evening and then greeted students arriving at school the next morning.
Wendy Knight, District 196's food and nutrition coordinator, will serve as 2017-18 president of the Minnesota School Nutrition Association. Knight was installed in the position during a state conference earlier this month in Duluth. She takes the helm of an organization representing roughly 3,000 school nutrition professionals statewide.
A motorcyclist was killed Wednesday, Sept. 6, in a head-on crash on Highway 55 in Rosemount. Clive Christian Jorgensen, 57, of Eagan, was killed after his motorcycle collided with a Chevy Malibu at 7:29 p.m. near the intersection with County Road 42, the State Patrol said. According to the State Patrol, Jorgensen was eastbound on Highway 55 when he swerved to avoid a box truck that was westbound and turning south onto County Road 42. Jorgensen's Yamaha motorcycle then struck the Malibu, which was westbound in the Highway 55 bypass lane.
The Rosemount High School Marching Band performs a concert Thursday, Aug. 17, at Central Park Amphitheater as it gets ready for the 2017-18 school year. Five challengers will take on the three incumbents in the District 196 School Board election this fall. The incumbents seeking another term on the Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan School Board are Art Coulson of Apple Valley, Gary Huusko of Eagan and Mike Roseen of Apple Valley. They are challenged by Craig Agrimson of Apple Valley, Brian Buechele of Lakeville, Rebecca Gierock of Apple Valley, Daniel O'Neil of Eagan and Bianca Ward Virnig of Eagan.
The body of a man who went missing near the Dakota County Fairgrounds has been found, authorities said. The body of 61-year-old Bruce Peterson was found by a searcher about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 5, in a remote and heavily wooded area near the fairgrounds, according to the Dakota County Sheriff's Office. Peterson had been missing since July 2. Volunteers helped search for him over the holiday weekend.

A man arrested in south-central Minnesota late Tuesday, June 13, could face charges in connection with a Rosemount bank robbery reported just hours earlier.
