The Rosemount High School Marching Band earned the Youth in Music Grand Champion Award and took first place in Class 4A competition at the Youth in Music (YIM) Marching Band Championships at U.S. Bank Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 8. The event featured 24 high school marching bands from across Minnesota, Wisconsin and South Dakota that marched in field show competition. In addition to taking first place in Class 4A, the Marching Irish also earned the caption award for Outstanding Color Guard.

The Dakota County Technical College Lions Club will host International Club President Bob Corlew during a banquet on campus on Friday, Oct. 7. Corlew, who oversees Lions Club International's 1.4 million members, will visit the campus as part of a tour to promote the organization's 2016 theme "New Mountains to Climb." Additionally, Corlew will present a $1,000 donation from Lions International to the DCTC Foundation.

The Rosemount High School Marching Band took second place overall in the Golden Regiment Invitational marching band competition in Blue Springs, Missouri, on Saturday, Oct. 1. This is the first year the Marching Irish have participated in this competition, which included 23 bands from Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Illinois and Minnesota.

Rosemount Crossing will host its second annual Fall Family Fun Festival from 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 24. Activities will include yoga, karate, food, fitness classes, nail polishing, pumpkin painting, a bounce house, wellness workshops and a pizza party/movie night. The majority of the events are free.
