As a way to get more youth involved in Scouting, One Rosemount will hold the first community Scout event on Aug. 11. All area scouts are invited to be apart of a community panoramic picture as well as bring non-Scouting friends to participate in various activities. "We've been working with our local district to try to figure a way to make Scouting better," said MaryJane Schneider, Webelos leader for Pack 270 in Rosemount as well as a member of the membership committee.
I said last week I was going to focus on Leprechaun Days this week, but I forgot what this weekend was in my life. I've never said too much to you about my father. Thirteen years ago on July 27, he left this world for the next one. Since this weekend marks that anniversary, I had hoped you would afford me the option of switching gears and recognizing the man we called Dad. Like Mom, Dad grew up on a farm. He went to school through eighth grade, and then, as was typical in those days, he quit school to help on the farm.
The Rosemount Area Arts Council had a beautiful night Friday for their annual square dance, one of the first big events of Leprechaun Days. We've got photos from the event.

More than two years after her sudden death, Kaleigh Faeh is still making a difference in Rosemount. Faeh was 13, an eighth grader at Rosemount Middle School, when she started to get sick. Within three days she was in the emergency room, and days after that she was in the ICU with a strep infection that sent her into septic shock. Her organs started to shut down, and she was sedated. She never woke up again.
The Rosemount Area Arts Council's annual Bluegrass Americana Weekend gets Leprechaun Days under way with a Friday night square dance in Central Park, then follows up with bluegrass and roots music Saturday and Sunday. In between, you can run a road race, check out some classic cars and go golfing to help the Rosemount Irish wrestling team. Read on to see what else is on the calendar.
Rosemount must be one of the most tuneful towns in Minnesota this week, with several musical performances marking this year's celebration of Leprechaun Days. And one group that will be performing on Saturday is especially close to our hearts - and soon to be shared with a national audience.
The Tour De France is going on right now. Roads across America’s favorite toast- and fry producing country have been filled since the beginning of July with men in stretchy...
It was hard not to get swept up in the excitement last Friday morning at Rosemount High School. Watching as the school held a celebration of its marching band's selection to participate in the 2014 Tournament of Rosemount parade, the thrill, the enthusiasm and the pride were almost palpable. They should be. This is a big deal.
