When the portable classrooms came to Rosemount High School in the late 1980s, they were a solution to a problem. Eagan High School hadn't yet opened, and RHS was filled to overflowing with students. The portables were a necessity, and at one point they stretched in two rows from the building out to 142nd Street. Now, more than 20 years later, the last of them is gone. It was dismantled Saturday morning while crowds lined up in the parking lot for Rosemount's Leprechaun Days parade. At RHS, that is both good news and bad news.
A gray and rainy Saturday and cooler than normal temperatures all week long couldn't put a damper on Rosemount's Leprechaun Days celebration. Attendance was strong at events throughout the week, and Leprechaun Days committee president Diane Wellman said numbers were particularly strong at events intended for children. Last year's kiddie parade drew just 10 kids, Wellman said. This year's, held in a new location, featured 63 units. Attendance at a kids' dance grew from 120 last year to 180 this year.
By the time you read this, many same sex Minnesota couples could be packing their bags, preparing to embark on a long-awaited honeymoon. Just imagine: sightseeing in San Diego, canoodling in Cancun or sipping Sangria in Spain, reliving the wedding you feared would never be afforded to you. All because our state did the right thing and legalized gay marriage.

There was a lot of nice weather for this year's Leprechaun Days, and even a Saturday that felt more like September than late July couldn't keep Rosemount residents from coming...
I don't believe I've ever shared with you the story of the summer I was hired in this district. It's impossible to tell this story without including Mom, but she really isn't my focus here. Sorry Mom. (He said with a smile)
Train accidents were big items in the news this week 75 and 100 years ago. Read on to see what else was happening.
My husband walked into the house last Friday and immediately checked the thermostat. “Seventy-seven degrees,” he said. He opened the front door and announced the air conditioner had stopped working...
Rosemount Wrestling would like to thank the Southern Hills Golf Course, the Knights of Columbus, the Rosemount community and our local businesses for again supporting our annual golf tournament fundraiser. This one fundraiser funds over 70 percent of our season. Every year we have families that golf with us that have never had a son in Irish wrestling. We have many golfers that have golfed all six years and again, many of those do not have wrestlers. It is wonderful to see the support from all the wrestling families and the non-wrestling families.
To the editor, Considering that Rosemount is the only city in the area without a senior center, I feel compelled to voice my opinion.
