We're not really singers in our office, but we're still more than a little intrigued by the event scheduled to take place next week at Rosemount's Robert Trail Library. On July 12, an as-yet undetermined number of people from Rosemount and the surrounding area will gather at the library and, with the help of some professional song leaders, sing like crazy. Loud or quiet, on key or off, it doesn't matter. It's not about the quality of the singing so much as it's about getting together as a group and doing something.
Nicole Frovik says Independent School District 196 feels like home for her, and it's not hard to understand why. The new Parkview Elementary School principal has been here all of her life. Frovik grew up in the district. Her father was a teacher at Rosemount High School and Apple Valley High School. She got a job teaching at Parkview in 1997, and after seven years in the classroom at different grade levels, she made the transition to media specialist at the school, a job she held for another eight years.
From the arrival of the first settlers on the banks of the Mississippi River up through the Space Age and beyond, Rosemount's history has been on Maureen Geraghty Bouchard's mind a lot lately. For the past 3 ½ years she has been surrounded by it, living it, breathing it and putting it all down on paper.

It was raining when I got home from work last Friday night. It was a little after 8 p.m., because I'd spent some time that evening taking pictures at Rosemount's Relay for Life event. It wasn't raining hard. I didn't even worry about getting wet as I walked from my car to my house. I took off my shoes, turned on my computer and went upstairs to change clothes. That's when I heard a funny noise.
