The Rosemount Parks and Recreation Department is going back to the drawing board — again — in its effort to bring cooler air to the Rosemount Steeple Center . On Tuesday, Rosemount City Council members gave a unanimous thumbs down to the lone bid the city received for the project. Submitted by Ebert Construction, the $248,200 bid was $80,200 more than the city had estimated for the project. This is the second time the city has tried and failed to get the air conditioning project done.
Nobody was injured, but traffic was disrupted for three hours Wednesday afternoon when a Cemstone cement truck rolled on County Road 42 in Rosemount. The truck was westbound near the Rosemount Business Park when the accident happened. There is a curve in the road at that spot, but assistant fire chief Jim Voelker said it was not yet clear exactly why the truck rolled. No other vehicles were involved. Emergency workers were called at 2 p.m. The driver of the truck walked away without serious injury, but the westbound lanes of County Road 42 were closed until 5 p.m.
Cameo Avenue between 143rd and 144th street West will be closed to traffic Monday, August 17. Traffic will be detoured to Highway 3. The closure is necessary because of construction work on a nearby senior housing facility.
We’re going on a month now since my television set gave up the ghost mid-Netflix binge, and my life thus far does not seem to have been thrown into any particular state of chaos. I’m not weeping or tearing my hair out or acting out reruns of The Big Bang Theory with sock puppets. Yet. But I also haven’t dived headfirst into a new life of literary exploration.

There will be at least two people on the outside looking in when voters in the Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan School District choose school board members in November. With more than half of this year’s filing period past there are six candidates signed up to compete for four available seats. All four incumbents — Joel Albright, Rob Duchscher, Jackie Magnuson and Bob Schutte — have said publicly that they intend to seek another term on the board. Through Friday morning, all but Albright had filed official affidavits of candidacy with the district.
