I have to hear a lot of good things about a book before I can start reading it. Once I start reading, it has to be very catchy and interesting for me to finish it. It usually takes me a long time to read a book because I don’t set time out to read. Two of the few books I have read in the past four years are the first two books to the Hunger Games trilogy.
Last Saturday was the Minnesota deer hunting opener and like usual, my dad and I were out at the break of dawn waiting for a deer. I have been hunting...
It seems like every TV show portrays high school band to give the students an automatic nerd reputation. Maybe it steers some people away, but it certainly never steered me away. After eight years, yes, I am still a member of the Rosemount High School band program. Do I regret it? Not even a bit. I decided I wanted to join band when I was going into fifth grade. Seeing all the older kids play for everyone seemed so cool at the time. My older cousin, Kelly, played the trumpet when she was younger and had one sitting around.
Senior year has been a blast so far. It is weird being oldest in school, but it is also nice not being the youngest again. Many things have changed at Rosemount High School the past couple years, but one thing that hasn’t changed much; t-shirt sales. So far this school year, it seems like there has been a different t-shirt for sale every week. The first weeks of school everyone was scrambling to buy the annual Homecoming shirts from DECA participants. Then along came the Pink Out football game shirts to benefit the American Cancer Society a few weeks later.
It is very weird now being the oldest of all the students at RHS. When people tell you high school is the best four years of your life and that it will pass by faster than what you think, they are right. Every year goes so fast. I feel like it was just yesterday that I was walking into Rosemount High School’s doors for the first time. When I think back to freshman year, what I think about most is how much I looked up to the upperclassmen.
As you may or may not know, Rosemount High School experienced a power outage the morning of Sept. 10 throughout the whole entire school. I, unlike most students, was just walking into school when a couple teachers were standing at the front door of the school. I was very confused because everyone was scrambling around and the hallway light was off. The only light shining in was sunlight, which lit up the front of the school.
It's that time of year again, the beginning of a new school year. Some may say it is their least favorite time of the year. Others may say it is their all-time favorite time of the year (they have most likely not reached high school yet and don't get hours of homework like the rest of us). I am just excited to start my senior year of high school.
