It took some compromise, but the Club House Child Care will soon have an onsite outdoor playground. The Rosemount City Council approved the project with a 4-1 vote. The council had tabled the item at its April 21 meeting because of concerns brought up by Simply Massage owner Jenny Cisneros. At the April meeting, the council approved an expansion of the Club House which will make the two businesses adjoining neighbors.
In the near future, the Rosemount Marcus Theater will serve alcohol as well as have twohuge UltraScreens to view new movies on.
A public hearing for a new housing development attracted a pretty good crowd to the Rosemount Planning Commission Tuesday night. On the table was a request by Copper Creek Development to create a 90-lot housing development tentatively named Evermoor Place.
The school days are winding down and soon kids will have some time on their hands. The Rosemount Parks and Recreation Department has a host of educational and athletic activities planned throughout June and July to help kids get the most out of their summer break. The Minnesota Department of Commerce has awarded Rosemount a Made in Minnesota Solar Rebate for a rooftop system on the public works shop. Sundial Solar applied for the rebate on behalf of the city and will now come up with a formal proposal for the project. City planner Jason Lindahl said Sundial Solar submitted several projects on behalf of the city.

The Dakota County Community Development Agency Board has formally terminated longtime executive director Mark Ulfers. The board, which consists of the Dakota County Commissioners, finalized the decision during a special meeting May 12. The board notified Ulfers in March that his contract with the CDA would be terminated in 60 days. After a lengthy discussion Tuesday, the board voted 6-1 to finalize his termination.

As the city invests in making it an amenity for future generations, the council hopes to also showcase the community paragon. Last week, the council approved a contract with Jeff Bartlett , a lighting designer who specializes in exterior lighting artistry. City administrator Dwight Johnson said the council has pondered the idea of enhancing the Steeple Center through lighting for a while.
