Local historian Maureen Geraghty Bouchard searched for this watch for years, finally finding it at the Chicago History Museum. The watch was given to Admiral George Dewey from 50,000 children from Minnesota and the Northwest who each gave a one cent donation. The Rosemount teen who came up with the idea was her great, great uncle.

The first phase of the "Rosemount Connection" of the Mississippi River Regional Trail is expected to be complete by the fall of 2017. The second phase is planned for fall of 2018. When the trail sections are finished, this portion of the MRRT will extend from South St. Paul to Hastings.
