Golf: Irish girls team, Humble qualify for state
The Rosemount girls' golf team and boys player Connor Humble qualified for the state tournament with their performances at Monday's Section 3AAA meet at Bunker Hills Golf Course.
Sydney Regalado, an individual state qualifier last spring, led the Irish girls to their first section championship since 2014 by shooting rounds of 78 and 82 during the two-day meet. Gretchen McDonald fired back-to-back rounds of 86. Other members of the Irish state team are Ellenor Westphal, Kaylin Engelmann, Megan Shandorf, Renee Boldus and Nidhi Sunkam. The Irish's two-day total of 697 bested runner-up Eagan by 10 strokes.
The Class 3A state meet is back at Bunker Hills June 13-14. The Irish tee off at 12:30 p.m.
On the boys side, Humble qualified for state individually with a birdie on the 18th hole June 5. He tied for third place with a two-day total of 157.
Humble will tee off at state at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 13.
The Farmington girls turned in their best round of the year at the Section 1AAA June 1. The team finished 10th out of 13 teams, three spots higher than last year, with a round of 419.
Senior Ryan Jara qualified for the second day of the meet by shooting a round of 93. Freshman Lauren Jorgensen missed the cut-off by one stroke with a 105 and Izzie Siebenaler shot a 108. Miranda Swenson added a counting 113.
Beth Weiher and Kaitlyn Shirley also played for the Tigers.
