Boys basketball: Irish win two with balance

Balanced scoring led the way for the Rosemount boys basketball team in a pair of holiday weekend wins at the St. Thomas tournament.

Rosemount had four players in double figures in both weekend games, an 81-63 win over Holy Angels on Dec. 27 and a 72-62 win over Cretin-Derham Hall Dec. 28.

Logan Halvorson led the way for the Irish in Friday’s win with 18 points. Matt Stephenson had 14, Garrett Goetz had 11 and Cole Northwick had 10.

Rosemount led 36-25 at halftime and outscored the Stars 45-38 in the second half.

Halvorson was Rosemount’s leading scorer again on Saturday, tallying 16 points in a game Rosemount led 35-25 at halftime. Kyle Kaupa had 13 points for the Irish, Tyler Hartigen had 12 and Stephenson had 11.
