Legion baseball: Post 65 swept on the road

Members of the Rosemount Legion baseball team talk things over in the dugout during Monday night’s rain delay at DCTC.

The Rosemount Legion baseball team sent a season-high five pitchers to the mound last Wednesday in Simley and none of them could make it through a potent Inver Grove lineup.

Inver Grove set the tone with five runs in the bottom of the first and ended up piling on 16 runs in a 16-8 triumph.

Post 65 mounted a brief lead thanks to Ben Smith’s solo home run in the top of the first. It was 13-3 by the time Bryce Reinhart and Luke Dahl each knocked RBI doubles and came around to score in the top of the sixth.

A day earlier, Post 65 lost a more competitive contest 5-2 against Eastview in Apple Valley.

Smith started and held Eastview to three runs over the first four-plus innings.

Trailing 4-0, Post 65 scored both its runs in the top of the sixth. Alex Tauer started the inning with a double and scored on Hayden Lanoue’s single. Ethan Engdahl followed with a sacrifice fly to make it 4-2.

Post 65 (5-6) was rained out Monday night against Farmington. They were back at DCTC Tuesday night to take on New Prague and were on the road Wednesday at Eagan. The team’s hectic week continues this weekend with five games in pool play at the Gopher Classic in Edina.
