Girls' Swimming and Diving: Irish knock off Eastview

The Irish girls' swimming and diving team won their first official meet of the season over Eastview 100-81 last week.

Rosemount won the first 10 events and then entered their swimmers as exhibition racers in the last two. The junior varsity also won by a score of 102-76 and won nine events.

Winning for the varsity were: the 200 medley relay team of Kathleen Bartz, Balor O'Donnel, Anna Wenman and Taylor Barabash in 1 minute and 55.12 seconds; Cassandra Hutchins in the 200 freestyle (1:58.88) and 500 freestyle (5:19.95); Molly Urkiel in the 200 IM (2:12.01); Macy Klein in the 50 freestyle (25.06) and 100 freestyle (55.22); Andrea Holtz in the one meter dive with 235.15 points; Wenman in the 100 butterfly (59.14) and 100 backstroke (1:00.43) and the 200 freestyle relay team of Klein, Julia Simms, Barabash and Hutchins (1:41.60).

Winners for the junior varsity were: Hayley Ringhand, Meridath Jackson, Greta Nygaard and Lillian Dawson in the 200 medley relay (2:19.16); Kylie Estebo in the 200 freestyle (2:19.16); Alana Ortiz in the 50 freestyle (28.14); Courtney Casey in the 100 butterfly (1:17.59); Katherine Jacobson in the 100 freestyle (1:02.64); Ringhand in the 500 freestyle (6:10.00); the 200 freestyle relay of Andreea Moisei, Nygaard, Dawson and Heather Lewis (1:59.67); O'Donnel in the 100 backstroke (1:08.68) and the 400 freestyle relay of Jenna Salay, Ringhand, Allison Ganado Ramos and Cyrill Wyllie-Sonsalla (4:30.55).

The Irish next swim against Shakopee on Thursday, Sept. 7.
