Girls lacrosse: Irish drop three straight

When the Rosemount girls lacrosse team has struggled this season, it's had a tough time slowing down opposing offenses.

The Irish allowed 17 goals per game while losing their first four to start the season. While winning a pair earlier this month, they held Park to 11 and Bloomington Jefferson to six. Double-figure scoring efforts weren't enough in a 15-12 loss at Bloomington Kennedy and a 13-11 setback to Chaska/Chanhassen late last week, and Farmington came to Irish Stadium Monday night and scored its highest goal total of the season in a 17-8 win.

"It was a tough run for us, but we have a great group of players with a strong skill level and we will keep working to be ready for the playoffs," coach Jeff Smith said.

The Irish took a 2-9 record into Tuesday's home game against Burnsville. The regular season comes to an end back at Irish Stadium tonight against East Ridge and the section tournament begins next Wednesday.

Vs. Farmington

Darby Henjum scored a season-high four goals, but leading scorer Maddie Johnson was held to just one in Monday's loss to Farmington.

Madi Lubeley, Maggie Moeller and Sydney Narloch each added goals for the Irish.

Alexis Raeth stopped two shots and Charley Belden saved 13.

Vs. Chaska/Chan

The Irish led 8-6 at halftime last Friday, but scored just three goals in the second half of their loss in Chaska.

Johnson led the team with four goals. Lubeley and Angela Bodine each scored two.
