Boys soccer: Irish remain winless in conference
The South Suburban Conference continued to be unkind to the Rosemount boys soccer team last week.
Thursday's 3-0 loss at Eagan dropped the Irish to 0-4 in the league. They have scored three total goals in those four losses, compared to 11 goals in their five non-league wins.
The offense got going in the second half last Tuesday at Bloomington Jefferson, scoring two goals. Unfortunately, the seventh-ranked (Class 2A) Jaguars had already taken a 4-0 lead by then and were able to hang on for a 5-2 victory.
"We struggled in the first half because we came out intimidated," Rosemount coach Mike Floersch said. "By halftime we were down 4-0 and three starters were out with injuries."
Kohl Sparrman continued to contribute offensively, breaking up the shutout with another goal. Biruk Tefera followed with a goal of his own on a pass from Trevor Reis.
The Irish will continue to go after their first South Suburban win this week. They hosted Lakeville South Tuesday and are on the road again tonight at Bloomington Kennedy.
