Black Sox: Errors help out Hounds

The Austin Greyhounds have proved to be a tough matchup for the Rosemount Black Sox this season.

The Sox have a winning record at 7-6, but two of their losses have come to the Greyhounds by a combined score of 19-4. The team managed just two hits in an 11-1 loss in Austin June 2 and the rematch didn't go much better as nine errors led to five unearned runs in an 8-3 setback Saturday in Rosemount.

The game remained tied at 0-0 until the Greyhounds pushed across a run against Rosemount starter Michael Robohm in the top of the fourth. The Sox quickly rallied to take the lead, however, as Eric Hendricks' two-run single brought in Lance Anderson, who singled, and Jon Bishop, who reached on a hit-by-pitch.

Robohm allowed three more runs before exiting having allowed three earned runs on six hits. He struck out three and walked one.

The Sox cut the lead in half in the bottom of the sixth when Bishop bombed his third home run of the season.

The score stayed 4-3 until the eighth, when the Greyhounds plated four runs on five hits against relief pitcher Hendricks. All four runs were unearned.

Mark Radmacher closed out the game with two scoreless innings of relief.

Jason Kirchman had two more hits for the Sox, upping his average to a team-leading .415 in 41 at bats. Radmacher also supplied two of the team's eight hits.

The Black Sox are back in ation Sunday when they host the Eagan Bandits at 2 p.m. They are on the road at Coon Rapids, Savage and Waterville before returning home next weekend for games against the Lakeville Athletics (Saturday) and Rochester Royals (Sunday).
