Boys golf: Team qualifies for second round of sections

The Rosemount Boys Golf team had a good showing during the first round of the 3AAA Section Tournament. The team scored 322 to tie Woodbury for fourth place.

The top five teams make it to the second round played at Bunker Hills Golf Course Friday. Coach Kyle Fredrickson was happy with the way his team played.

Fredrickson hopes the team can pull off another good round and qualify for state. Currently the team is 13 strokes behind leader East Ridge. Rosemount would also have to overcome Hastings and Eagan.

Luke Gillett led Rosemount with a 74, a season low for him. Jake Sweetman shot a 79, Josh Doyle carded an 81 and Ryan Sword finished out the team score with a 88. Cody Schultz shot a 91 and Travis Parker a 96 to complete the Rosemount team.

The second round of the section tournament will be played at 8 a.m. June 1 at Bunker Hills Golf Course.
