Basketball team ranked eighth

The Blue Knights are ranked number 8 in the country. Pretty impressive considering they don't have a home court and this is the team's first season of play.

The National Junior College Athletic Association released its latest Division II men's basketball poll Feb.21, ranking the Dakota County Technical College Blue Knights basketball team No. 8 in the country.

The Blue Knights shot up from No. 13 after an 82-77 win against Williston State College and a 90-56 win against Ridgewater College last week. The team is on a 10-game winning streak, with an overall record of 22-5

"Wow!" said Head Coach Jay Pivec, a member of the NJCAA Hall of Fame, when notified of the ranking. "It's certainly an honor for us to be ranked. I'm speechless. The fact that we were able to do that the first year with all the logistical issues, we're flattered we are ranked. But, our goal isn't to be ranked. Our goal is to be titled. That's what we play for. That's the kind of program we play for. The athletes always knew they could play. We are positioned to be in an elite team and we will find that out when we play the next two games."
