Wrestling: Rosemount goes 4-0 at Moorhead Duals

The Rosemount wrestling team turned in another dominating performance Saturday at the Moorhead Gadberry Duals.

The Irish improved to 12-2 overall by winning four lopsided duals, the last one a 51-15 rout of Grand Forks Central in the championship round of the eight-team tournament. Four of the team's wrestlers won their divisions with perfect 4-0 days -- Kwame Owusu, Adam Jackson, Alex Johnson and Stefan Sauer -- and, in all, Rosemount wrestlers posted a record of 42-14.

"It is always a highlight of the year traveling on an overnight trip, and then wrestling extremely well in all four duals," Rosemount coach Brett Larson said.

Rosemount opened with a 41-17 win over Jamestown, and then defeated Fargo South 58-15. The Irish advanced to the finals by defeating Fargo Davis 62-17.

Grant Jackson, Pat Massey and Sam Moeller each went 3-1 for Rosemount. Dan Rosa, Adam Hedin, Jake Baker and Steve Levine each went 2-0. Noah Buck, Kamal Hassan, Isaiah Lufkin, Kouta Sugii and Payton Otterdahl all won championships in the JV tournament.

The Irish tuned up for the weekend by improving to 5-0 in the South Suburban Conference with a 51-17 dual win over Lakeville South Thursday night.

Grant Jackson, Adam Jackson and Levine all won by technical falls. Owusu won by major decision and Craig Szymanski and Stefan Sauer scored decisions.

Rosa, Hedin, Massey and Moeller all won thanks to Lakeville South forfeits.

The team is back in action tonight when it hosts Apple Valley for a conference dual at Irish Gym.
