Irish finish state track and field meet

The Rosemount track team brought home two top-three finishes in last weekend's state meet.

The Rosemount boys and girls track and field teams finished the Class 2A state track and field meet and a pair of relays came home with top-three finishes. The girls 4x400-meter relay finished second with the boys taking third in the 4x800.

Thana Hussein, Rachel Schow, Hannah Grim, and Shade Pratt combined to finish second in the 4x400. The Irish crossed the finish line in 3 minutes, 52.34 seconds, behind only Hopkins, which set a new state record.

Pratt also placed fourth individually in the 400.

John Evenocheck, Sam Temple, Chris Mergens, and Chandler Dye teamed up in the 4x800, taking third.

Shane McCallum placed 10th in the 1,600. He was 13th in the 3,200 on Friday.

Andrew Hausmann was eighth in the 400 and 15th in the triple jump.

In the 800, Dye placed eighth and Mergens was ninth.

Myles Phillips finished ninth in the 200.

The 4x400 relay team of Goaner Deng, Hausmann, Temple and Phillips took fourth place.

Phong Dovu finished 17th in the long jump.

On Friday, Joe Bjorklund placed seventh in the shot put and teammate Brandt Berghuis was eighth. Berghuis finished 17th in the discus on Saturday.
