Girls track: Track girls take fourth

Finishing fourth at last week's Class 3A, Section 3 True Team meet didn't come as any sort of shock to Rosemount girls track and field coach Sara Hatleli.

Hatleli wasn't disappointed. She was pleased, but wasn't overjoyed either.

It turns out the Irish finished right where Hatleli had expected, behind Prior Lake, Apple Valley and Eastview.

Rosemount scored 685.50 points to finish fourth. The Lakers won the team title with 967.50 points.

"It was where we thought we would finish," Hatleli said. "There were a lot of good performances. There were events that we could have done better, but no major disasters."

The Irish kept working toward their goal of being ready for the season-ending championship meets.

"The meet was really encouraging for us and the athletes," Hatleli said. "We have a better idea of what we can do in conference, section and hopefully state."

Thana Hussein provided several points for Rosemount.

Hussein finished fourth in the 200-meter dash and fifth in the 400, individually.

Hussein teamed with Tori Grund, Laura Dennis and Rachel Schow as the Irish placed second in the 4x400 relay.

Schow finished fourth in the 100.

Hannah Grim crossed the line in second place in the 3,200, followed by teammate Bridget Burkard in sixth.

Natalie Busher was second in the high jump, with Dennis placing ninth.

Katie Toombs finished fifth in shot put.

Katie Duff was third in discus and Taylor Gryzwacz placed fifth.
