RHS grads compete for national hockey title Saturday

Rosemount High School graduates Luke McManus, left, and JT Brown will play for a Division I hockey title Saturday at the XCel Energy Center.

It's been a good year for Rosemount High School graduates at the University of Minnesota-Duluth.

Last fall, RHS graduate Chase Vogler won a Division II football title, and on Saturday former Irish hockey players JT Brown and Luke McManus will play for a Division I hockey title with the Bulldogs.

Brown and McManus are both 2008 graduates of Rosemount High School.

Brown, a freshman wing, has been a key player for UMD this winter, and he played a big role in his team's win over Notre Dame on Thursday. Brown scored a goal and had an assist in the 4-3 win.

McManus is a freshman defender for the Bulldogs.

Both Brown and McManus played in the USHL before enrolling at UMD, McManus at Tri-City and Brown at Waterloo.

According to Rosemount High School Brown and McManus are the first RHS graduates to compete for a Division I college sports title.

The Bulldogs will take on Michigan for the national title. The game will air at 6 p.m. on ESPN.
