Legion Post 65 Baseball: Break comes at a good time for Legion

After playing a lot of games the past four months, the Rosemount Legion Post 65 baseball team finally has a break.

Legion coach Jay Baker just wants his team to rest.

"It's a much-needed five days off," Baker said. "Let them take some time off, go do some other things and not even think about baseball."

During the past week, Rosemount has gone 1-5. The team lost 15-7 to Burnsville last week and went 0-3 in an Edina tournament over the weekend.

Rosemount came back to beat Prior Lake, 9-8, on Monday. Tuesday they lost 13-2 to Chaska.

"The tournaments have really taken a lot out of us," Baker said. "We don't have a lot of pitching. So seven games in a row, you can do the math."

Baker has enjoyed how his team has fought through the struggles, and knows they are showing signs of improvement.

Against Rosetown in the tournament, Rosemount lost 10-9, but had runners on first and third in its final at-bat.

Michael Robohm, Eugene Sturm, Matt Eul and Jake Turner each had two hits in the game. Chris Couillard, Jason Date and Doug Haase also had hits.

The team also scored three runs in the seventh to beat Prior Lake. Brady Loew singled to drive in Matt Foley and Chris Couillard. Sturm singled to drive in Loew as the team came from behind.

Sturm earned the win on the mound after coming on in relief.
