Boys Golf: Race for section title looks good

The Rosemount boys golf team and new coach Greg Gamache set team goals at the beginning of the season.

The Irish wanted to win a tournament. Check. They wanted to place third in a Lake Conference meet. Check. They wanted to finish ahead of Eastview, considered one of the section's stronger teams. Check.

Last on the list is advancing through the first day of the section tournament. If the past week is any indication, things are looking good for a clean sweep.

The Irish have now finished ahead of each of the team's considered the best in the section.

Rosemount finished second at Northfield last week and then won a meet at Hastings on Monday. Tuesday, the Irish placed third in a Lake Conference meet.

"I wanted guys to be able to stand on the tee box and know they have beat every team and know we can do it," Gamache said. "We're not asking them to do something they haven't done before. They know they can beat these guys."

On Tuesday at Brackett's Crossing, Kevin Kearney shot a 76. Eric Frahm finished with a 78. Collin Anderson had a 79 and Sam Reber shot an 80. Grant Weierke added an 81 and Tony Lorence carded an 87.

Reber was the medalist at Northfield with a 74.
