Letter: Ozment plans farewell open house

To the editor,

Missing opening day of the 2009 Minnesota House of Representatives on Jan. 6 for the first time in 24 years filled me with many mixed emotions. The most significant feeling was that I will never be able to thank you ("The People") enough for electing me 12 times and allowing me to serve the great state of Minnesota. It has truly been an awesome honor.

The legislative district lines have changed but the constituents I have represented were from Rosemount, Apple Valley, Hastings, Cannon Falls, Farmington, the 16 townships that surround them and the seven small cities in between.

Congratulations to our new District 37B Representative, Phil Sterner. Your decisions will be very tough and very important. Please be assured Rep. Sterner, as citizens and your constituents, many of us stand ready to assist wherever we can in these challenging times.

I want to invite all my current and former constituents, supporters, voters, friends, neighbors and others who can spare a few minutes to stop at my Voter Appreciation Open House. The open house will be sponsored by the Ozment Volunteer Committee from 4:30 to 9 p.m. Jan. 26 at the Rosemount VFW post, north of Rosemount on Highway 3. Please stop by so I can personally say, "Thank you."

Dennis Ozment

State Representative, retired.
