Letter: Sterner supports Sterner

To the editor,

Many people are voicing their opinions about the election and we all want what is best for the community. I want this letter to add to the discussion from somebody who was raised by Phil Sterner.

He has spent his whole life in the community. He owns the oldest insurance agency in Apple Valley and we have lived in Rosemount since 1985. Growing up I witnessed first-hand his desire to improve our community. When there is a need, he steps up. He was my Scoutmaster, coached RAAA track, founded the RAAA tennis program, organized the RHS band ad sale, and served on the RHS site council, to name just a few activities. Sometimes I would ask my Dad "Why do you spend so much time volunteering with these activities?" He always replied cheerfully, "The community depends on it."

My dad has instilled this same passion and work ethic in my sisters and me. I graduated from RHS and Marquette University and then commissioned as a 2nd Lt. in the U.S. Air Force, because of his dedication.

My dad has a passion for Rosemount and Apple Valley. He truly loves this place. He will work to find solutions to education, taxes, environment, veterans and transportation that benefit all of us. With a vote for Phil Sterner, you can trust that you will be electing a leader who is compassionate, loyal, and driven -- a leader who will work for you.

Please stand with the Star Tribune, Pioneer Press, Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association, Education Minnesota, Minnesota Professional Fire Fighters, Conservation Minnesota, Minnesota Nurses Association, AFSCME Council 5, SEIU, Southern Dakota County Labor Council, AFL-CIO, Teamsters Local 120, IBEW, St. Paul Building and Trades, MAPE, International Union of Operating Engineers Local 49, Clean Water Action, Minnesota Farmers Union, MEDPAC, Teamsters Joint Council 32, and National Association of Social Workers - Minnesota Chapter, who all support Phil Sterner.

I am proud to vote for Phil Sterner and even prouder to call him my Dad.

Nathan L. Sterner
