Wayne A. Briesacher, 78

Wayne A. Briesacher, age 78, of Farmington, passed away peacefully at his home on May 9.

Wayne was born on March 11, 1939, in Revillo, S.D. At an early age his family moved to a farm in what is today Apple Valley, later to Eureka Center, and then to Farmington. Wayne attended Farmington schools and graduated in 1957. He played all sports and was also in band and choir. Upon graduation he enrolled in the U of M. Wayne served 4 years in the Air Force and was very proud of his service and received two awards for his accomplishments which was unusual for a first time recruit. While in the service he married Marilyn Fischer. When he began at Dakota Electric in 1976, to start up their computer processing department, he told them that every employee would eventually have a computer on their desk. They laughed at that idea. When he retired in 2002, employees wondered how they ever got along without a computer on their desk.

After retirement, Wayne became an all around volunteer in town. He drove bus for the senior center and Trinity Care Center and took them for many outings to restaurants, grocery shopping and even to Treasure Island Casino. Over the years, Wayne was very active in sharing his faith at Farmington Lutheran Church from serving on council to teaching middle school Sunday school.

Wayne and Marilyn were able to take many trips in their years together.

Wayne is survived by his wife of almost 56 years, Marilyn; his daughters, Becky, Laura (Brad) Smith, and Michele (Jim) Kamen; and five grandchildren, Joe, Ben, Tracey and Daniel Kamen and Henry Thoennes. Also siblings Harvey (Iris), twin sister Wayva, Joyce (Frank) Shadley, Garry (Connie), and Karen (Dan) Young.

Funeral Service was held 11 a.m. on Monday, May 15, at the Farmington Lutheran Church. Interment, was held at the Corinthian Cemetery, Fgtn. Online Condolences: at www.whitefuneralhomes.com
