Four will run for three school board seats
There will be four candidates competing for three seats when voters in the Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan School District choose school board members in November.
All three incumbents who are up for election filed to keep their seats. They will be joined on the ballot by Craig Angrimson.
The terms of Art Coulson, Gary Huusko and Mike Roseen all expire this year. All three said early on they planned to seek reelection.
Roseen, an Apple Valley resident, is the longest-serving of the incumbents. He was first elected in 1989. Coulson was appointed to fill a vacancy in 2008 and won an election to keep his seat in 2009. Huusko, of Eagan, was appointed when Bruce Endler stepped down from the board in 2011. He has not previously run for a board seat.
Angrimson is an Apple Valley resident. He's lived in the district for 23 years and said he has long had an interest in running for the board.
"My daughter's 16 now. I have time to commit," he said .This is something I've always wanted to do."
Angrimson was involved in former Rosemount High School principal Greg Clausen's campaign for Minnesota Senate.
The filing period for school board candidates closed Tuesday.
