Letter: Many helped make Leprechaun Days a success

As president of the Leprechaun Days Committee, I would like to send a heartfelt thank you to everyone involved in this great celebration. Hard to believe it has come and gone for another year.

The weather wasn't always our friend this year but we still had great attendance to so many of the over 65 events. If you did the hard work of planning an event, attended one, waited in line for a pork chop, dressed up with your child in the kiddie parade, ate a few hot dogs, had a root beer float, crossed the finish line at the Run for the Gold, hunted for the medallion, gave blood at Walgreen's, danced a little jig, took a photo to be displayed, square danced, won a goldfish, ate cotton candy, had a New Zealand Meat pie or mini donuts, got an autograph from an NHL player, played whiffle ball, basketball, hockey and even pickle ball, jumped in a jumper house, dunked the Mayor, ran with a bathtub, filled a few 100 water balloons and on and on, we thank you so much.

A big shout out to our police department, the police reserves, mounted patrol, park and rec and the public works department. Without your support and help in so many ways we could never have these 10 days. Thank you!

A big thank you to all the committee members. We could never carry off the best 10 days of summer without your time, dedication, years of experience and hard work. I enjoy all of you. Each of you brings something needed to the celebration. I have found my pot of gold in all of you.

Thank you to the sponsors, old and new, who support Leprechaun Days year after year. We all have seen towns having to cut back and even not have their events because of a lack of funds. It is greatly appreciated that we can count on so many of you year after year. Without the continued support we could not have one of the best celebrations in the area.

We had a wee bit of rain on our parade, but we marched on. One hundred units joined in the parade. Our grand marshals, RHS Band directors, will now go on to the Rose Parade. We are proud of you all. Thank you for being part of the celebration.

Mid Summer Faire and the live bands as always were a great hit. Thank you for braving the cooler temps and rain to make it a great time. We capped Saturday night with the best fireworks. Thank you RES.

Thank you to everyone who came down on the evenings to Central Park to help with the clean up. It is such a great help to us.

Thank you to both area papers for your wonderful support. You attend so many events and take wonderful photos. It is greatly appreciated by us.

If I forgot anyone, I am sorry and would like to thank you for being a help in any way.

Thank you for making this first year as president outstanding. Looking forward to next year.

Leprechaun Days President
