Hope 360 will host prayer walk at Lighthouse Saturday

For Doug Kauffman a walk around Rosemount started a monthly tradition that has caught on with others.

Kauffman was hoping to find a house in Rosemount about a year ago. He was struggling to find something and a friend suggested he walk around town and pray about it. A different friend was in a similar situation, so Kauffman invited his friend along to pray with him.

Kauffman said after the experience the friends asked him if he wanted to meet again to walk and pray. They did, and this time they invited more to join them. A year later, the walks have become a regular event through Kauffman's organization, Hope 360.

Kauffman started Hope 360 after going through some devastating life events including losing his business and getting a divorce. The mission of the organization is to provide hope and help to people going through difficult life events. Their goal is to befriend, mentor and help individuals find purpose and direction in their circumstances through Jesus Christ.

The walks have taken on a life of their own, though. On the first Saturday of each month people meet at different churches around the area. On Sept. 1, Hope 360 will host a Prayer Walk from 9 to 10 a.m. at Lighthouse Christian Church.

Pastor Bill Goodwin said the walk will begin with a group prayer. Because of the time of year, the group will pray for the upcoming school year, students and their families.

Additionally, Kauffman said they will pray for the leadership of Lighthouse, the congregation and for the future. Kauffman said during the first 15 minutes members of the group will share prayer requests. And then the group will walk for the next 45 minutes and pray.

On the Hope 360 website, Kauffman said it is a great time of lifting the church and each other up in prayer. The event is open to anyone who wants to get out and pray.
