Highway 3 will close Aug. 2-5 for underpass construction

Highway 3 will be closed to traffic the weekend of Aug. 3 as crews work on an underpass.
Get ready for a detour.
Trunk Highway 3 will be closed to all traffic from 142nd Street West to 140th Circle beginning at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2. It is scheduled to reopen at 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 5. During this closure, the contractor will work 24 hours per day to complete the installation of the pedestrian underpass beneath TH 3. Increased noise and lights are expected from the construction activity during this time.

The Rosemount City Council, Rosemount Police Department and Rosemount High School officials all support the road closure as a preferred method to eliminate the need for lane shifts and reduce the amount time traffic will be impacted by construction. The city has worked with Dakota County and the Minnesota Department of Transportation to establish a detour route along CSAH 42, Pilot Knob Road, and McAndrews Road.

Here is a map of the detour route.

Residents who have questions or concerns about this road closure or about the underpass project in general should call the Rosemount Public Works/Engineering Department at 651-322-2022.
