Community center banquet hall gets a facelift
The banquet room of the Rosemount Community Center has hosted countless weddings, conferences and luncheons since it opened in 1994 and frankly, it was looking its age.
"It was dated and needed a facelift," said Dan Schultz, Rosemount Parks and Recreation director.
This winter, Rosemount invested $190,000 in the space to give it that facelift. The banquet room, the lobby and the restrooms all got the once over. The remodel included new flooring, more modern fixtures including lights, accent work, paint and more.
Leading up to the renovations the city had received comments from renters that the facility could use some updates. The banquet room, which gets a lot of use, had not been remodeled since it was built in 1993. The hall is rented out for a variety of uses including wedding receptions, craft fairs, corporate trainings and school retreats among other events.
Schultz said the updates were necessary to keep the facility attractive to potential renters.
"It's a competitive industry and you need to stay relevant," said Schultz.
The banquet facility has hosted several events, including a wedding, since the work was completed in February.
"The response has been real positive," said Schultz.
To show off the remodeled banquet hall the parks and recreation department will host an open house from 6 to 8 p.m. April 11 at the Rosemount Community Center, 13885 S. Robert Tr.
Schultz said they will have some displays up to show residents what's possible with the banquet room. Refreshments will be served.
