Shannon Park Elementary Principal Erik Davis fulfilled a promise to sleep overnight on the school roof after students raised over $25,000 for the school through a “Reading Rocks” program that promotes literacy. Davis headed to the roof as students left school Wednesday, Oct. 4, interacted with families and visitors throughout the evening and then greeted students arriving at school the next morning. Rosemount High upperclassmen watched a dramatic mock car crash simulation May 11 outside school to show the life-altering or deadly consequences from drinking and driving after prom. The program encourages youth to take responsibility as a driver and passenger. Afterward, juniors and seniors discussed the dramatic crash and how to proactively stay safe driving.
