School notes: Rosemount students named to honor band

Fourteen Rosemount High School students have been selected for membership in the prestigious University of Minnesota High School Honor Band.

Students who were selected for the band each completed a rigorous and competitive audition process, along with several hundred other high school students from throughout the state, and were selected by the music faculty at the U of M as the finest high school instrumental musicians in the state of Minnesota. They will participate in a weekend of music rehearsals and master classes with U of M faculty and present a concert at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 26 at Ted Mann Concert Hall on the West Bank of the U of M campus.

Selected students are: Jessie Cox, flute; Jacob Grunklee, French horn; Tony Hanto, trumpet; Josh Hugo, euphonium; Nicole Hutchinson, tenor saxophone; Blake Kaner, trombone; Emily Komperud, trumpet; Jenna Olson, bass clarinet; Renae Otto, bassoon; Skylar Pratt, baritone saxophone; Michael St. Ores, trumpet; Neha Sunkum, percussion; George Tangen, percussion; and Matt Zabel, clarinet.
