Rosemount choir students earn recognition

Rosemount High School choir students have earned recognition in several forms recently.

Seven RHS sophomores and juniors have earned spots on next year's 11th- and 12th-grade Minnesota ACDA High School Honor Choir. Students were chosen based on a recorded audition. They will perform a new major work for choirs Nov. 18 at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church in Mahtomedi.

Rosemount students chosen for the choir are sophomores Dylan Giles, bass I; and Matthew Weber, tenor I; and juniors Gabrielle Allan, alto II; Hannah Haage, soprano II; Andrew Jeon, bass I; Hannah Nelson, alto I; and Paul Wollersheim, tenor II.

Rosemount singers also brought home honors from the state vocal solo and ensemble contest, held April 14 at RHS.

Daniel Moulier brought home a best-of-site award in the solo category, and the trio of Alison Baker, Joy Smith and Maxee Whiteford won best of site as an ensemble.

Several RHS students received honorable mention recognition. They are: Matt Billings, Tyler Blumke, Christy Emanuelson, Caitlin Hanson, Stephanie Houlihan, Jessica Hukka, Cory McMenomy, Meghan Olson, Taji Onesirosan, James Terhar and Maxee Whitford in the solo category; Madeline Murphy and Paul Wollersheim as a duet; Tyler Blumke, Brandon Chapman, Hannah Haage, Stephanie Houlihan, Ryan Kladar, Madeline Murphy, Elise Randall and Kyle Weiler as a double quartet; the RHS men's ensemble and the RHS women's ensemble.

All told, 60 of the 86 RHS students who performed received superior ratings.

Six students have been named to all-state honor choirs.

Sophomore Alison Baker was named to the all-state mixed choir; junior Luke Banchy was named to the all-state men's choir; junior Isaiah Collins was named to the all-state mixed choir; junior Christy Emanuelson was named to the all-state women's choir; junior Andrew Jeon was named to the all-state men's choir; and sophomore Madison Holtze was named to the all-state women's choir.

This is the seventh consecutive year RHS has had six vocalists, the maximum for a school, chosen for all-state choirs.

Students chosen for all-state choirs will attend a five-day summer music camp in August.
