Rosemount High School eases into the holidays with an assembly

The Rosemount Irishettes perform with help from the Guyettes.

There was singing, there was dancing, there was a spirited game of faculty musical chairs and there was even some presidential trivia. But there wasn't anything at Rosemount High School's Thursday afternoon holiday assembly likely to draw the kind of international scrutiny the school has been dealing with since its last pep fest.

The holiday assembly is the typical lead-in to the holiday break at RHS. This year's version included performances by two student dance groups and a competition among the classes to sing the best version of Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer. Students also competed to make basketball shots from half court.

There was a brief discussion about not holding the assembly in the wake of the Dec. 15 prank that landed RHS on television stations and websites around the world, but in the end the event went on as usual.
