Rosemount High School marching band takes sixth at regional competition in St. Louis

Rosemount High School took sixth at last weekend's Bands of America regional in St. Louis.

A long drive through the night paid off for the Rosemount High School marching band with a sixth place finish at last weekend's Bands of America regional competition at the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis.

Rosemount had a practice session at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Thursday, then came to RHS for a quick shower and were on the road to St. Louis by 3 a.m.

The Irish were the top band in preliminaries among Class 3A competitors Saturday and took sixth out of 14 finalists. The 14 finalists were the top performers among bands at all class levels.

There were 53 bands competing in St. Louis. The event is the largest Bands of America event outside of grand nationls.

The bands that finished above RHS will all perform at Bands of America Grand Nationals in November in Indianapolis. Two of the five are former national champions.

The Irish also took home awards for outstanding visual performance and outstanding visual effect among AAA bands.
