RHS, RMS on state's list of underperforming schools

This year's list of Rosemount schools failing to make adequate yearly progress toward meeting federal No Child Left Behind standards looks a lot like last year's.

Once again this year Rosemount High School and Rosemount Middle School are the only schools in the city identified on the list, which the Minnesota Department of Education released Monday.

Schools -- and entire districts -- are put on the list of underperforming schools if the school as a whole or one of several identified subdivisions of the student body fail to meet state standards. The determination is based primarily on performance on the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment tests given earlier this year.

RHS was identified based on the performance of students who receive free and reduced-price lunches on the MCA math test. RMS was identified for the performance of special education students on the MCA math test.
