Kitchen fire damages single-family home on Damask Court

The Rosemount Fire Department responded to a kitchen fire that broke out at 1 p.m. Oct. 15 in a single-family home on the 14700 block of Damask Court.

One adult and six children were home at the time of the fire but everybody was able to get out of the house safely, according to assistant fire chief Jim Voelker. Voelker said the first captain to arrive on the scene reported smoke and flames coming from the kitchen window.

Crews called in the Apple Valley Fire Department for assistance due to a shortage of firefighters and the time of day. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire quickly and contain fire damage to the kitchen, though the rest of the house suffered smoke and water damage. Nobody was injured.

The American Red Cross provided assistance to the family, who is staying with relatives that live nearby while crews assess the damage.
