Accident closes Highway 52

Highway 55 was closed in both directions between Highway 52 and County Road 42 on Tuesday afternoon following an accident involving a car and a semi.

Rosemount Police and the Minnesota State Patrol were on scene.

According to Farmington police chief Brian Lindquist, who was on his way to training at Flint Hills Resources at the time of the accident and responded to provide assistance, the driver of the car lost control and skidded into the semi’s lane. The semi driver took a hard right to avoid the car and the vehicles hit each other and ended up in opposite ditches.

There were no serious injuries but Highway 52 was closed for  several hours because crews were having trouble removing the semi from the ditch.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation estimated at 3 p.m. that the closure would last another two hours.

More information will be posted as it becomes available.
