City on a Hill will present Easter play Sunday

Palm Sunday marks the beginning of the Holy Week leading up to Easter Sunday. It also commemorates the entry of Jesus into Jerusalem to celebrate Passover before he’s arrested and crucified.

Pastor Bruce Bentley said this year City on a Hill Church wanted to honor the event with something out of the ordinary. The congregation will perform the one-act play Parade without a Permit.

Bentley said the play involves not only the actors performing but also the audience in the Palm Sunday story.

“It’s an engaging way to do Easter,” said Bentley.

The story is told from the perspective of a government worker who is upset that Jesus triumphantly paraded into Jerusalem without getting a permit. Bentley said the play includes some humor but also explains the gravity of the event.

The performance will be held during City on a Hill’s regular service at 10 a.m. April 13 at the Steeple Center. It is free and open to the public. For more information visit
