Band wins big in Marshall

The Rosemount High School marching band brought home the overall title and a collection of other awards from last weekend’s Marshall Pursuit of Excellence competition.

The Irish were overall champions as well as first place finishers in the big-school category. Rosemount also won awards for outstanding brass, outstanding woodwinds, outstanding color guard, outstanding drum majors, outstanding general effect, outstanding visual performance and outstanding music performance.

The win was the latest in a series of wins for the Irish this year. They finished first place in competitions at Eastview and Eden Prairie, were named champions of the Minnesota State Fair parade competition and were recently named best marching band in Minnesota by WCCO TV.

The band will compete Oct. 5 at Champlin Park.
