Finding faith in the outdoors

Summer is a time to get outside and enjoy. Through the warmer months, City on A Hill Church in Rosemount will apply that idea to their Sunday services.

For the second summer the congregation, which usually meets in Rosemount's Steeple Center, will hold one service a month in one of the city's local parks. On June 2, services will begin at 10 a.m. in Brockway Park.

Pastor Bruce Bentley said it's a simple idea that really resonates with people. He said the congregation has an active devotional service that includes song and prayer. Afterwards, members stick around to enjoy a picnic lunch and play games.

"It's a great time to get to know each other. Summer is the time to do out of the ordinary stuff," said Bentley.

Bentley said they started the outdoor services last summer as a way to shake things up and to get out of the Steeple Center, which doesn't currently have air conditioning. He said members of the church really enjoy the change of pace.

City on a Hill will meet outdoors four times over the summer. All services begin at 10 a.m. Outdoor services will be held on June 2 at Brockway Park; July 7 at the Central Park amphitheater; August 4 at Brockway Park and Sept. 1 at Central Park.

All services are open to the public. Bentley said the relaxed nature of the outdoor services makes it an ideal time to learn more about City On A Hill Church.
