Basilica choir is coming to Rosemount

Recently, St. Joseph Church has hosted a number of eclectic concerts. The bookings aren't some random coincidence, but rather a goodwill offering of the church to bring some wonderful acts to the community, said liturgist Bill Bradley.

"We want to share the high quality sacred music that is out there with the community," Bradley said.

In that vein, the Basilica of St. Mary's Choir will perform at 7 p.m. April 26 at St. Joseph, 13900 Biscayne Ave. Bradley said the choir is well-known throughout the Midwest and puts on an incredible performance.

While the whole community is invited, Bradley said St. Joseph's has invited musicians from other area church choirs to attend. Before the performance, at 5:30 p.m., there will be an informal meeting to discuss a possible area music collaboration. While there aren't a lot of details about the collaboration, Bradley said they hope to create some type of ecumenical music opportunity.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for seniors and free to students. Proceeds from the concert will benefit the local food shelf. Tickets can be purchased at the St. Joseph office or at the door.
